'Deadly Pandemics' Framed Petri Dish Set

A unique piece of science-meets-art.

A themed set of three diseases which have caused the worlds largest pandemics: Bubonic Plague, Influenza, and HIV in a mix of large, medium and small Petri dishes, with crochet 'agar' bases and pathogens made in a mix of deluxe hand dyed yarns. Printed labels list the scientific name of each microbe and the disease they cause.

I've crocheted and/or needle felted giant versions of how these bacteria and viruses appear under an electron microscope. Big artistic liberties have been taken with form, colour, size and the fact that they they would never be grown in a lab on a petri dish! The aim is to make these microbes vibrant, visible and engaging.

Presented in a square waxed frame with glass front (the photos are taken with glass removed to avoid reflections). The frame measures 19cm x 19cm, depth of 3.3cm
