Laura Cameron: BA(Hons), Bsc(Hons), MSc. Public Health
Soft sculpture/textile artist. Unique crocheted and needle felted anatomical, microbiological and botanical inspired art, made by hand in North Wales.
Lost in the Wood was founded in 2013. Originally from Edinburgh, I now live in North Wales. I create science inspired textile art and I graduated with an Msc in Public Health & Health Promotion (With Distinction) from Bangor University in December 2022. I use crochet and needle felting as an engaging way of communicating science and health information, making things which are usually hidden or micoscopic, visible and vibrant. Main inspirations include medical history, anatomy, public health, dark fairy tales (hence the 'Lost In The Wood' name), historical crime, witchcraft and fake foods. I enjoy subverting the expectations that usually accompany woolly crafts, my work aims to blur the line between traditional art & craft. I think it's important to challenge this artificial distinction in a playful manner.
I am a member of Caernarfon Artist Regional Network (CARN).
